Resonance

Résumé

In April 2016, the German sociologist Hartmut Rosa published his book Resonanz (since translated into a variety of languages). To date, it has enjoyed even more success than Rosa's previous bestseller, Acceleration. These two books reflect a two-pronged movement in the Frankfurt School's Critical Theory, to which Rosa regularly reminds readers that his work belongs. Firstly, we see reflection on the processes of alienation in today's capitalist society, and the worsening of conditions for coexistence on our planet. Secondly, theorists are proposing a way (albeit a conceptual one, yet to be put into practice) to prevent such alienation, which could ultimately destroy the human adventure if left unchecked.
